My biggest issue with receiving this newsletter in my email inbox is that I get infuriated every time. Every single time. Thanks for shining the light on these abuses of power.
This crap gives all police and the whole criminal justice system a bad name. Although the more these stories come out, the harder it is to believe that most cops and most judges (and prosecutors, for that matter) are doing their best to serve the community. I was raised to believe cops are there to help us. I have had close friends who are on the police force. I won't forget the one police friend I have defending the police in the Brionna Taylor shooting. He is a good man and a good cop (at least to my knowledge). Even in a private conversation with a close friend (me), he would not admit that the police were wrong. I lost respect for him. I lost respect for the US police system as a general concept. What do I teach my children to do when they are in trouble, is a question I constantly face. For now, I still tell them to run to the officer in uniform. Going forward, I don't know how much longer I will be able to comfortably tell them that.

Balko has a job Sisyphus would turn down. I'm glad he does it.
wait, another Geoff G subscribes/comments? Really? Small world!
I thought about commenting that I'm not your sock puppet, nor are you mine, but that sounded like something a sock puppet would say.
And there's also a Geoff N (although not my handle). Must be something in the water...
Love Radley balko
